Coeur d'Alene offers a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities for individuals, families, and groups alike. Within Kootenai County there are 87 parks and campgrounds, 47 hiking trails, fishing, swimming, hiking, golfing, horseback riding, softball, tennis, amusement parks, ski resorts and, of course, spectacular scenery at every turn.

The Lake
The pristine serenity of the lake has earned Coeur d'Alene Lake a reputation as one of the world's most beautiful. Enjoy the friendly atmosphere of the City Beach and numerous water activities, including water skiing, fishing, jet skiing, parasailing, boat cruises, seaplane rides and more.

Golf
From spectacular scenery to challenging fairways to one of America’s great water holes, North Idaho offers golfers a course to match any skill level. Coeur d'Alene is home to the famous floating green located at the Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course. Selected for a gold medal by Golf Magazine, the Resort course has been called "America's Most Beautiful Resort Course" by Golf Digest. The Resort Golf Course also received a 5-Star rating in both service and conditioning by Golf Digest in 2000. In North America only four others have received both designations - Pebble Peach, Pinehurst, Manele Bay and the American Club. North Idaho offers 16 other exciting courses ranging from intimate 9-hole layouts to 18-hole championship courses.

Two new courses opened in the Coeur d'Alene area in Spring 2003. The Club at Blackrock features a Jim Engh designed course overlooking Coeur d'Alene Lake from Rockford Bay. The development is complimented by a 25,000 square foot club house and 361 home sites. The Coeur d'Alene Tribe also opened an 18-hole course in Worley, 30 minutes south of Coeur d'Alene.

Amusement Parks
Just a quick 15-minute drive North of Coeur d'Alene lies the adventurous theme park, Silverwood Theme Park. With more than 60 rides and attractions, including three roller coasters, a Thunder Canyon river raft ride and a steam locomotive, Silverwood has something for all ages. Also in the area are family fun centers filled with day adventures, such as Triple Play.

Snow Skiing
The Coeur d'Alene area boasts three ski resorts. Silver Mountain in Kellogg has two peaks, 50 runs and 2,200 vertical feet of fun, and the world's longest gondola. Lookout Ski area in Mullan is also nearby for alpine exploring. Or skiers can head north to Schweitzer Mountain Resort with 58 runs across 2,500 acres and Stella, the new 6-passenger high-speed chairlift.

Shopping, Dining and Entertainment
Residents and visitors alike have a wide choice of shopping and dining pleasure across the city of Coeur d'Alene. The Silver Lake Mall, the Coeur d'Alene Resort Plaza Shops, four large antique malls and a strong downtown shopping area provide a variety of selections.
